We do not publish a fake AED 79 perfect day. We publish bands. Winter car-light: Nol spine stays low; taxis are medium if you keep them for gaps; water is low; a paid deck is high and optional. Summer car-light: Nol still low; taxis climb because AC and impatience; water becomes a line you cannot skip; the same paid deck is still high and only worth it if the hour is right. Desert operators are high in every season and dawn-only in the hot months.
Salik is the silent loop. If you treat the city as a highway scribble, gates add up. Official tariffs: salik.ae. Parking is a second silent loop. Uncovered parking in July is also a heat cost: you will pay in taxis later if someone overheats.
What belongs on the line before the viewpoint ticket
The second bottle of water. The second taxi after the last useful train. The coffee that is not a coffee. Tipping where it is expected. A child ticket. A suitcase that forces a car. Friday night surge after a concert. If the plan only works with a private car at 14:00 in August, it is a luxury product. Price it like one or rewrite it.

Field ledger: what two August days actually spent
Day A, 7 August 2026, two adults, Nol already loaded, hotel near a Red Line indoor door. Metro all useful hops. Two bottled waters each. One indoor museum ticket at the official window. No desert. No paid deck. One taxi after 22:10 because we missed the last comfortable transfer, not because we missed the last train. The day looked cheap until that taxi. That is the point of rounding up.
Day B, 8 August 2026, same pair, a car. Salik twice on a loop we did not need. Uncovered parking at a mall. The walk from bay to door was the thermal cost; the dirhams were the second cost. We rewrote the afternoon as indoor after the car park. A viewpoint ticket we had been considering was cancelled because the hour was wrong. Cancelling is a cost skill. Buying the ticket anyway would have been a souvenir of a mistake.
How to brief a driver without becoming a hostage
Name the next air-conditioned door, not a skyline. Name the hour you want to be inside. If the driver proposes a cousin at a mosque gate, the answer is the official channel. Waiting time is a line item: agree it. Surge after events is not a moral failing of the city. It is a price. Put it on the page before the evening starts.
Children change the band more than a second adult does, because the heat clock tightens and indoor bias becomes the plan. A suitcase changes the metro from spine to optional. Friday arrival changes the first morning. Cross-emirate marble changes Salik and hours together. Write those four modifiers on the same scrap as the hotel name.
